I wish to publicly thank Maine Teacher of the Year, Limestone High School teacher Frank McElwain, who is also a good Samaritan.
He and his wife Joan recently rescued my 3-year-old son and me as we were stranded on a back road with a very flat tire. Frank freely offered his time and talent to change the tire…. Joan added my son and me to her vanload of children and drove to the airport to find my husband Andy. We added Andy and his guide dog Ulrich to the crowd, then Joan returned us to our car and the newly changed tire, courtesy of Frank.
My family will be leaving Northern Maine soon after spending three years here, and we will be taking lots of memories with us. We’ve enjoyed our stay, and the people of Aroostook County. The kindness of the McElwains will be one memory we will share often with others as an example of the true Maine spirit of family and caring…. Kellie B. Rebscher Loring Air Force Base
