Methodist women meet

DEXTER — The first meeting of the season for the United Methodist Church Women was held Sept. 1 at the cottage of Bertha Fanjoy. A potluck supper was enjoyed by 12 members and three guests, Jane Jennings, Isabelle Hopkins and Mary Perkins. President Shirley Luce opened the meeting and welcomed members and guests.

Reports of the secretary and treasurer were read. A report of the completion of the kitchen floor was given and appreciation was expressed to all who worked on the project, especially Dana Luce and Ernest Robinson. The balance of the money for the project was turned over to the trustees for the church siding project. Plans were made to visit the Dexter Boarding Home on Wednesday morning, Oct. 14.

The group discussed plans for a pancake breakfast from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 19, at the church. The breakfast is at the request of the Dexter Merchants’ Association. The menu will be orange juice, pancakes, sausage, homemade doughnuts and beverages.

Plans for the annual rummage sale on Friday, Oct. 2, at the the church were completed.

During the summer recess, there were 106 calls made and 11 cards sent. The next meeting of the group is Oct. 6 at the home of Constance Fortier. Focus of the meeting will be a world thanks offerings and the making of Christmas articles. The meeting will open at 1 p.m.
