SKOWHEGAN — Skowhegan Log Days continue this week with an entertainment night at 7 tonight at the Skowhegan Opera House. Featured performers will be Julie Thompson and Brownie Macintosh.
On Wednesday, Aug. 24, there will be a golf tournament at the Lakewood Golf Course from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.. The Rotary will sponsor a lobster bake at the Indian sculpture from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
A craft fair and barbecue will be held at the Indian from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday, followed by a night of Moonlight Madness sales at stores in the downtown area.
A chicken barbecue will be held from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Indian.
Saturday’s events will begin with the Lions Lumberjack Breakfast 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Indian. At 8 a.m. a road race will begin at the Chamber of Commerce office. A parade will start at the fairgrounds at 10 a.m. proceeding to Russell Street.
A fishing derby will be held from noon to 4 p.m. on the Kennebec River from Oosoola Park to the Route 2 rest area. Throughout the afternoon, a series of events will take place at the rest area, including a bean dinner, beginning at noon, logging events, kiddie events, amateur activities and a megaduck race.
Log Days will end with a fireworks show by the Kennebec River eddy Saturday night at 8 p.m.
