BANGOR DAILY NEWS (BANGOR, MAINE

In response to Phillip Cardwell’s letter of June 16, the measure Carolyn Cosby put on the ballot this fall is not about special rights, or behavior, or teaching children. The Concerned Maine Families referendum is about denying basic rights to anyone who has not met the prior approval of Cosby and her Virginia attorney.

Cardwell says he’s afraid of what his children will learn. Apprently what he wants to teach them is to deny Maine people the chance to do their jobs and live their lives without being singled out for discrimination. That’s a lesson no one should learn. I’m against the referendum. Stephanie Riker Bangor
