Candidate’s qualities

We support Chuck Weser’s candidacy for the Maine Senate, because we know from our own experiences as public servants what personal qualities a voter should look for in a candidate.

We believe we can predict Chuck’s performance as a state senator, because as a selectman he has shown three personal characteristics that matter to us:

Accessible: Chuck Weser returns all his calls, and takes the time to explain where taxes go and how the procedures work. He likes to make new friends, and he enjoys being helpful to people with local, legitimate problems. Chuck Weser is accessible.

Responsible: The next time you drive past the Blue Goose on Route 1, take a look at Cross Street (formerly Atlantic Highway). It was not simply patched; it was reconstructed to state specifications and should last at least six years with proper maintenance, not merely two or three. This is a first for Northport. Chuck Weser was responsible.

Decisive: When first elected, Chuck discovered that the state Department of Environmental Protection was about to impose a fine of $500 a day on the town due to noncompliance in converting the landfill facility to a transfer station. In two days, Chuck had the required equipment in town, on site, and changes made as required by DEP. This solved the immediate problem. Chuck is decisive.

It’s time for Chuck to show these qualities in the state Senate. We can put him there with your help on Election Day. Please get out and vote! Richard McGray, Former city councilor Walter E. Ash Jr. City councilor Stanley Knox Former Waldo County sheriff Mary Page Worth, mayor Hon. Robert Gould John Frenning Belfast
