Keyte, Haven score 10 each to lead Tigers over Mariners

DEER ISLE – Bill Keyte and Greg Haven scored 10 points apiece as Dexter edged Deer Isle-Stonington 53-48 in boys basketball action Friday night.

Jake Whitsett paced the Mariners with 21 points, while Chris Hutchinson notched 14. Foul trouble and defensive pressure held Nick Wiberg to eight points.

Mike Herring netted the first goal for the Ponies off an assist from Dave Speed early in the first period. Ben Preston added a goal to boost the scored to 2-0 off assists from Mike Lebel and Seth Condon.

Speed notched a goal early in the third period off assists by Skipper Smith and Adam Harvey. Justin Gilbert added an insurance goal off an assist from Speed at 5:25 in the third period.

Adam Martell turned away 24 of 28 shots for 2-12 Old Town.

Winslow 7, Presque Isle 0

At Sukee Arena in Winslow, Jake Fraser scored two goals and had three assists to lead 11-3-1 Winslow.

Brad White netted two goals and Ben Fraser had two assists, while Nick McCann, Jared Poulin, and Robbie Fortin each scored a goal. Jon Taylor saved all 16 shots he faced.

Ted Wright stopped 26 of 33 shots for 11-5-1 Presque Isle.
