The credit card scam is on the go in Maine, so beware.
On July 3 at 4:40 p.m., I received a telephone call from a young woman calling from out of state telling me my credit card was not activated. I questioned why and demanded to know how she knew it wasn’t activated.
She mentioned it again thinking I would give her my card number, which I didn’t, so she quietly hung up.
I called the 800 number for my credit card company and the woman who answered was glad to hear about it. I never give out my credit number or Social Security number.
By the way, she called me by my first name. I wonder which company sold them my name and phone number and no doubt hundreds of other names?
Be careful. Jean Hamilton Veazie
