ELLSWORTH — City voters elected two councilors Tuesday night and a new member to the school committee.
Ralph S. Buckminster was the top vote-getter in the council race, garnering 1,246 votes to win one of two seats up for election.
He will be joined on the council by Lawrence F. King, who received 1,103 votes.
Incumbent Councilor Frederick B. Garland received 572 votes, and challenger Robert P. Murray received 627 votes.
John C. Van Pelt won the open seat on the school committee, defeating Edward W. Grohoski 1,284 to 741.
Herbert T. Silsby II won re-election to the Ellworth Public Library’s board of trustees, receiving 1,949 votes. Silsby was the only candidate on the ballot, but write-in candidate Harry Coffin received 40 votes to win the other open seat. Lynn Sawyer, another write-in candidate, received four votes.
