OLD TOWN – The Canoe City Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, June 8, in the city’s downtown.
The local Knights of Columbus, Elks and Rotary Clubs sponsor the event. It will feature a bounce tent, pony rides and arts and crafts activities for children. There will be displays of antique cars, boats and engines along with displays by wooden boat builders.
Native American artisans, some from nearby Indian Island, will demonstrate native crafts. Other demonstrators will include fly fishermen and wood crafters.
A chicken barbecue will be held 5-7 p.m. The Bangor Symphony Ensemble will perform at 7 p.m. in the new bandstand in the downtown park. A fireworks display will begin at dusk.
Antique vehicles and vendors are welcome at the daylong event.
