Glenburn driver dies after Bangor collision

BANGOR – A man died Wednesday after the minivan he was driving on Outer Hammond Street strayed into an oncoming lane and struck another vehicle.

Police said they were not sure why the minivan drifted out of its lane.

The driver, Dana Perkins, 59, of Glenburn, was pronounced dead at Eastern Maine Medical Center.

The driver of a silver mid-sized car struck by the minivan, John Thibodeau, 54, of Rockland, was treated at EMMC and released.

The drivers were the only people in the vehicles, which collided near the intersection with Doane Street.

The accident was being investigated by the Bangor police accident reconstruction team, the Criminal Investigation Division, and the State Medical Examiner’s Office.
