SKOWHEGAN – The Lake George Regional Park annual Winter Carnival and Ice Fishing Derby is set for Saturday, Feb. 2.
Events for the all-day event include a sled box derby race, a marshmallow roast, a baked bean competition, ice rescue demonstrations by the Skowhegan Fire Department, kick sled demos, skiing and snowshoeing.
Registration for the ice fishing derby on the ice near the boat launch is $5. The derby runs from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Prizes in many categories include cash, gift certificates and more.
Registration for the Box Sled Derby is at 9:30 a.m. and judging is at 10 a.m. Call Cindy Clark 474-8024 for rules and details.
The bean cookoff is at noon with prizes for best beans. Beans should be fully cooked and in a pot that can be warmed over an open fire.
Ski, tea, knit and snowshoe runs are from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Operations Center near the Skowhegan-Canaan town line.
