ROCKLAND — The Rockland Rotary Club’s seventh annual St. Patrick’s Day Party will be held from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 14, at the Samoset Resort in Rockport. According to officials, the purpose is not only to have a wonderful time but to raise thousands of dollars for the Rockland Rotary Club Scholarship Fund. Last year the party raised in excess of $8,100 for scholarships which was awarded to local students. Terry Bregy, well-known radio personality, will be master of ceremonies.
Refreshments will include complimentary punch, tea, coffee, sandwiches, snacks, cheese and crackers. A cash bar will be available.
The Stan Catell Orchestra will provide music, playing American jazz specialties mixed with popular Irish ballads and Irish jigs. There will be ballroom dancing, and Irish sing-alongs which have been a traditional favorite at this festive gathering.
The door prizes will include a $1,000 bill, 10 $100 U.S. Savings Bonds and a 52-week Megabucks season ticket. Drawings will be held every hour, and people need not be present to win.
As in the past, the person whose dress best exemplifies the spirit of St. Paddy’s Day will win $50. There also will be prizes awarded in a dance contest for the best waltz and best jig.
Tickets are available at Key Bank, Huston-Tuttle and Goldsmith’s, all on Main Street in Rockland, and from any Rockland Club Rotarian. Admission price of $30 admits one, and $5 more admits a guest.
