SANGERVILLE — A 31-year-old Guilford woman died Tuesday in a car accident on Hudson Avenue in Sangerville.

Sandra Littlefield was pronounced dead at the scene of a two-vehicle accident at 7:30 a.m. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Littlefield of Guilford. Robert Littlefield is the Guilford town manager.

According to Trooper Dan Ouellette of the Maine State Police, Littlefield was traveling south when she lost control of her 1987 foreign model car on the slush-covered road. The vehicle skidded into the path of a northbound 1984 model four-wheel drive vehicle driven by Wayne Young, 40, of Hampden.

Young, who was not wearing a seat belt, received bumps and bruises in the accident. Littlefield was wearing a seat belt, according to Ouellette.

The accident was attributed to snowy and slushy road conditions.

Littlefield’s vehicle was demolished. Damage to Young’s vehicle was estimated at $4,000.

Assisting Ouellette at the scene were the Sangerville and Dover-Foxcroft fire departments. Mayo Regional Hospital’s ambulance responded to the call.
