A Cardville woman received a nine-month sentence Tuesday in Bangor for stealing money from the laundry where she worked.
Holly Russell, 19, pleaded guilty in November to the Class C theft charge, for which she could have received up to five years in prison for taking more than $2,000 from Gold Star Cleaners in Bangor last June, when she was responsible for closing the business.
She admitted the next day that she and two others took the money from a safe.
The theft took place less than two weeks after she pleaded guilty to charges related to a traffic fatality in Milford and three days before she was sentenced to six months in jail for it. Russell was driving a car in February 1989 that struck and killed 33-year-old Daniel Lagasse, who reportedly was lying on the road.
Russell also is awaiting the resolution of two other cases against her.
Also pending are the theft cases against Candice Niski, 22, and Edgar Paradis, 45, both of Corinna, whom Russell implicated in the Gold Star theft.
