MACHIAS — The Maine State Future Homemakers of America will hold a two-day convention on Thursday and Friday, March 30 and 31, at Nokomis Regional High in Newport.

Presiding will be Kathleen Hall, a senior at Machias High School, acting president.

“Let’s Make a Difference” was chosen by the FHA as the theme for the meeting, and the state officers will conduct workshops of their own design for members around the state.

Hall’s workshop, “Be a Volunteer — It Can Help You, Too,” will include role-playing situations and information on how to get involved in volunteer work.

Other workshops will include “Starting Over,” “First Impressions” and “Developing a Positive Self-Image.”

There also will be a talent show and dance Friday and a visit and workshop by a delegation from the Connecticut State FHA on Saturday, in addition to officers’ workshops, a business meeting, elections and installation of new state officers.

Hall, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Hall of Machias, was elected state second vice president last April and will assume the duties of the state president, who is unable to complete her term of office.
