MILLINOCKET — The Land Use Regulation Commission will hold a public hearing April 26 on proposed changes in the commission’s comprehensive use plan, land-use districts and standards, and appropriate land-use guidance maps regarding development and conservation of lakes in the commission’s jurisdiction. The hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. at the Heritage Motor Inn.
The hearing was scheduled as the result of efforts by Rep. Herbert Clark of Millinocket to amend LURC standards and operations.
The proposed amendments would further recommend the development of a comprehensive lakes-management program; make the commission’s regulations more consistent with the state’s minimum shoreland zoning guidelines; and make other changes necessary to accomplish a reasonable level of protection to the lake resources or unorganized areas.
Clark said the meetings would allow people to question LURC’s operations and offer testimony that would have bearing on the amendments. He said copies of the proposed amendments were free and could be obtained by writing to LURC, Department of Conservation, State House Station No. 22, Augusta 04333, or by calling 1-800-452-8711 or 289-2631.
