University of Maine at Presque Isle recognized as SOC campus for Loring

PRESQUE ISLE — The University of Maine at Presque Isle has received notification of another two-year membership in Servicemembers Opportunity Colleges.

UM-Presque Isle has been recognized as an SOC campus for Loring Air Force Base since 1973. In this capacity, UMPI also serves as the broker for the entire University of Maine System, offering a variety of courses with other interested system campuses.

According to UMPI officials, the additional membership affirmed UM-Presque Isle’s commitment to “fair, equitable and effective policies and practices that deal with the special conditions faced by military students who wish to obtain a college education.”

UM-Presque Isle is also one of five colleges and universities in Maine that have signed up for the U.S. Army’s concurrent admissions program, designed to increase the enrollment of veterans in college.
