GUILFORD — Skowhegan High School was the winner of the final Scott Hi-Q contest of the season March 15, which was held at Piscataquis Community High School. The contest is an academic competition sponsored by Scott Paper Co.
After Carrabec High School led throughout the first half of the contest, Skowhegan rallied. With three questions remaining, Skowhegan correctly answered its physics question, pulled in three extra bonus points, answered the toss-up math question and won the contest with 50 points. Carrabec finished with 42 points and Piscataquis had 12.
Rep. Kathryn Merrill of Dover-Foxcroft attended the contest and shared a few thoughts with the audience of more than 20 students, parents and faculty members.
