USM women top Occidental twice

LOS ANGELES – The University of Southern Maine swept a softball doubleheader from host Occidental College, posting a 6-0 victory in the first game and an 8-2 win in the second here Monday.

In the second game, Sue White doubled twice and had 4 RBIs to lead Southern Maine to the win. Michelle Taylor had a double, 2 singles and an RBI, and Danielle Sturgeon had a double, single and 2 RBIs. Tracy Knowles went the distance for the win.

For 1-9 Occidental, Jane Elias and Mary Roldan each singled twice. Lisa Graham took the loss.

In the first game, Sue White had 2 singles and an RBI for the 2-0 Huskies. Bonny Brown had a double and 3 RBIs. Tracy Roberts pitched a 4-hitter to get the victory.

For Occidental, Barb Lobel singled twice.
