Houlton woman named assistant

HOULTON — Teresa A. Nellans, daughter of George and Lydia Smith of Houlton, has been named assistant director of the Department of Labor and Industry’s Office for the Deaf and Hearing-Impaired in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Harris Wofford, Labor and Industry secretary, made the announcement.

The office has been in operation since June 1988 and promotes and coordinates state government services for deaf and hearing-impaired residents of Pennsylvania.

She has a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Pittsburgh. She is a member of both Self-Help for Hard of Hearing People and the Pennsylvania Society for the Advancement of the Deaf.
