LEWISTON – Jill Uhlenhake was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Bates College Polar Bears defeated the Tufts Jumbos 3-2 in softball action.
Winning pitcher Michelle Feroah, who scattered five hits, started off the bottom of the eighth with a walk. Bases on balls also were recorded by Emily Brown and Antoinette Evans before Uhlenhake’s HBP. Rachel Clayton, Amy Schrag, and Feroah each posted singles for the 2-1 winners.
For Tufts, also 2-1, Mary Carew had an RBI single.
