Two Bangor area men reported early Friday morning that they had been assaulted by two men with crew cuts and wearing sweat shirts with University of Maine Black Bear shirts.

Bangor police summoned Leon F. Reeves, 20, of 78 Royal Road, and charged him with assault. Police are looking for the second man who witnesses identify as being 5-feet, 7-inches in height and weighing about 170 lbs.

The two men who had been assaulted told police that they had been riding in a taxicab when the driver flashed his high beams at the other two men as they walked down the street. The victims reported that the two men met them in front of a house on Webster Street and struck them with their fists.

The two assailants then fled down Webster Street toward Royal Roard. When police arrived they searched the area and saw the suspects near Boutelle Road. Police officers reported that they apprehended Reeves but the second suspect escaped.

The police report states that both victims identified Reeves as their assailant. The cab driver told police he had seen Reeves and another man with the two men who had ridden in his taxicab.

Mark S. Wellman, 18, of Katahdin Hall at Eastern Maine Technical College, was summoned on a charge of public indecency Thursday night. A Bangor police officer reported that he witnessed Wellman urinating in the parking lot of Miller’s Restaurant.

A Bangor woman reported that sometime late Thursday night or early Friday morning someone entered her unlocked car and took 15 cassette tapes. The tapes taken from the car in the woman’s driveway were valued at $150. The woman’s son also reported that during that same time period someone took an AM-FM cassette deck from his car, which was also in the driveway and unlocked. The cassette deck was valued at $400.

Stephen H. McKintosh, 34, of 177 Court St. was arrested Thursday and charged as a habitual offender.

Michael S. McGuire, 21, of 112 Bennoch Road, Old Town, was arrested Thursday by Bangor police and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquors.

Kim M. Oakes, 20, of 378 Hammond St., was summoned by Bangor police Friday and charged with theft. Oakes allegedly left Rich’s Department Store with a Nintendo machine and three game cartridges — total value of about $220 — without paying for them.

Chester Gray, 20, of 363 Essex St. was arrested by Bangor police Friday on an active warrant for violation of bail.

Robbie L. Potter, 23, of 112 Cedar Falls Trailer Park was arrested Friday on a warrant for failure to appear in court for fish and game violations. Potter was taken to Penobscot County Jail.
