CALAIS — The National Merit Scholarship Program has named Christine Gould, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. William Gould, as a finalist in this year’s program. Gould is one of about 14,000 high school seniors nationwide eligible to compete for one of 6,000 college scholarships that will be awarded this spring.

Now a senior at Phillips Exeter Academy in Exeter, N.H., Gould received highest honors for her academic work and was awarded prizes in history and Russian. She is in Krasnodar, Russia, attending high school as an exchange student.
