Last March, your newspaper ran a story about the old Holden Town Hall/Grange Hall “Losing its post as center of the community.” Since then, a group of concerned townspeople has been investigating the possibilities and problems of the building in order to prevent it from being sold to a private party.
The Town Hall Restoration Committee recently sent a letter to the taxpayers in Holden, asking them how important they feel this building could be to the community, and would they be willing to help.
The committee feels this building represents an opportunity to bring some community activities back home. We live here in Holden, but spend our time (and money) in other places.
More response is needed from the townspeople as we would like to accurately assess the attitude of the community with regard to the fate of this building. Please respond to the letter by April 13. We want to know what the people want. Cynthia Dore-Bromley, Chairman Town Hall Restoration Committee, Holden
