I would like to publicly congratulate the Houlton Lady Shires (who were noticeably left off the 14th NEWS Dream Teams on April 7-8), for displaying all the winning attributes that the sports media pretend to applaud, but, in fact, do not reward with individual recognition.

If you had not perfected the art of team play, namely individual selflessness, and followed your coach’s directions to near perfection, you could not have shut down the “big guns” who were selected to the BDN’s teams.

Hopefully, someday all the adults on the various selection committees will see fit to honor those traits that make the Lady Shires winners year after year.

In the meantime, know that to your many Houlton fans each deserves to have made the first team and that this fan is irate that you have been so outrageously overlooked. Judith M. Williams Houlton
