Cary Library plans reading program

HOULTON — The Cary Library in Houlton will offer a program titled Tomes and Talismans Library Venture on Tuesday, April 17, through Friday, April 20. The program consists of 13 20-minute episodes designed to entertain and teach pupils how to develop library skills.

The series is the story of four User youths who escape a Wiper attack on the User base and flee to an ancient library on Earth. A wizard provides them with cryptic messages that, if deciphered, could enable them to defeat the enemy Wipers and free their captive base. Previously dependent on sophisticated electronics, the Users must acquire new skills to use library information to decipher the strange messages in time to save their friends and families.

Three episodes will be shown from 9:30 to 11 a.m. each day at the library. These will be followed by 30 minutes of activities. Refreshments will be served.

Participants will be given a free video rental at the library for each two days they participate. Those attending for all 13 episodes will be eligible for a drawing for 10 free video rentals.

To register, call or visit the library.
