MILO — Aldworth Chapter, Order of Eastern Star in Milo, held its first regular meeting with newly installed officers Monday, at Milo Masonic Hall. Worthy matron Dorothea Dean presided.

Guests included Wanda Foster, past grand matron, Susie Carr Chapter, Sangerville; Madeline Betts, grand organist, Miriam Chapter, Dover-Foxcroft; Phyllis Ireland, grand Electa, Aldworth Chapter, Milo; Jane Boutilier, district deputy grand matron, Susie Carr Chapter, Sangerville; and Deanne Merrill, grand representative to Alabama, Aldworth Chapter, Milo.

During the meeting, correspondence was read from Marjorie Goodwin, worthy grand matron, Fireside Chapter, Clinton, thanking the chapter for her honorary membership, and Audrey and Wayne Shean, Saugus, Mass., for their part in installation ceremonies.

Invitations were received for Grand Family Night Saturday, April 28, at Ivy Chapter in Warren and for Maine Order of Eastern Star secretaries meeting Monday, May 14, at Grand Chapter in Augusta.

Phyllis Ireland and Elizabeth Essency were installed as chaplain and associate conductress, respectively. They were unable to be present at the installation ceremonies held earlier. Installing officers included Ellen DeWitt, who was assisted by Edwin DeWitt and Marguerite York, installing marshal.

Theresa Hatch was received into membership in the chapter. She is a past worthy advisor of Brownville Assembly, Order of Rainbow for Girls, and is a grand officer of the Rainbow Grand Assembly of Maine.

Members voted to send the worthy matron, secretary, and the treasurer to their respective meetings at the Grand Chapter. Members voted to pay their dues and luncheon fees. Members voted to pay the cost of one Rainbow Girl to attend the Grand Assembly in May.

Resolutions of respect were read by Yvonne Angove in memory of T. Douglas Barker. The charter will be draped for a period of 30 days in his memory.

Members recognized the April birthdays of Arnold and Rhoda Gould and Jane Boutilier.

The next meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 14, at the Milo Masonic Hall. Because several regular officers will be attending a Grand Chapter meeting in Augusta, several substitute officers will be in charge at the Milo meeting.
