OLD TOWN – Karin Ackley fashioned a three-hitter to lead the Old Town Indians to a 2-0 schoolgirl softball victory over the Hampden Academy Broncos here Monday.

Old Town is 5-0 and Ackley has been the winning pitcher in each game. She struck out nine Broncos while walking only one.

Heather Brewer, Julie Fadrigon and Chris Dunphy each singled for the winners. Sue Thompson, Cathy Craig and Katy Kelly each singled for Hampden.

Renita Ward was the hard-luck loser for 2-3 Hampden as she gave up only three hits while walking three and striking out two.

Bucksport 4, MDI 0

At Bucksport, the Golden Bucks and Jen Wardwell continued their winning ways. Freshman Wardwell allowed two hits, struck out 12 and dudnt’t walk anyone. Wardwell and Bucksport are 4-0 and Wardwell has walked only one so far this season.

Corine Keene had two singles and an RBI, Marci Smith had an RBI hit and Jen Marzolf, Wendy Gott and Tracy Huggins singled for the Bucks.

For 4-1 Mount Desert Island, Tabitha Watson and Angeline Grant had singles.

At Blue Hill, Jill Smith drove in two runs with a pair of singles and pitcher Becca Heavrin struck out nine to carry George Stevens Academy to its third win against a single loss.

Kara Culvert added an RBI single for the winners.

For John Bapst of Bangor, 2-1, Deb Feeney had two singles, while Barbara Foster doubled and singled.

Orono 6, Hermon 4

At Hermon, Lori Young and Sessa Salas each singled twice to lift Orono to its first win of the season against three losses.

Jen Smith earned the pitching win for Orono in relief of Angie Nevells.

For Hermon, 2-3, Sharon Rines slugged a two-run double.

At Ellsworth, Zita Maloon had a double, single and two RBIs to lead the Dexter Tigers to the victory.

For the 2-3 Tigers, Kelli Fernald had two singles and two RBIs. Steph Simpson hit a solo home run in the first inning.

For the 0-3 Eagles, Michelle Davis had a two-run homer, two singles and three RBIs. Megan Sala had two singles. Sarah McIntyre had a double, single and an RBI.

At Newport, Amy Gallagher hit a double and a single to help lead the host Nokomis Warriors to a victory over Brewer.

For the 2-1 Warriors, Lucy Moore, Trisha Ripton and Candy Boone each hit a pair of singles. Angie Wilber (2-1) notched the three-hit victory.

For the 1-2 Witches, Carlene Longtin, Belinda Perry and Emily Burrill each singled for the only hits.

At East Sullivan, Corrina Tracey socked four singles and drove in two runs to help lift the Tigers to their second win against one loss.

Melissa Nelson drove in a pair of runs with three singles for Sumner. Betsy Lowe and Mindy Tracey added two singles apiece. Darci Lane, Heidi Wescott, and Michelle Joy combined on the pitching win.

For Deer Isle-Stonington, 0-3, Kelly Weed had two singles.
