DOVER-FOXCROFT — “Diabetic Lifestyles of the ’90s” is the subject of a free public informational meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 10, in the library conference room at Mayo Regional Hospital.
The keynote speakers will be Marion McLellan, registered dietitian, and Jo-Ann Ploszaj, registered nurse. They will discuss Mayo’s ongoing diabetic education classes.
The goal of the diabetes education program is to assist the diabetic in learning as much as possible to achieve and/or maintain optimum management of the diabetic condition. Knowledge, skills and attitude play an important role in the life of the diabetic.
There will be a film featuring actor Wilfred Brimley, and information will be provided on a range of topics including support groups for the diabetic. There also will be an opportunity to check one’s blood sugar level. After the session, refreshments will be provided and hospital tours will be given by Donna Van Hyning, public relations director, and Robert McReavy, executive director. The public is invited to attend.
