Pizza and bakery shop opens at East Machias

EAST MACHIAS — With the unlikely name of Fluff’s Pizza, Dorothy Bibber opened her new pizza and bakery shop on Route 1 between Machias and East Machias on Monday.

Fluff’s is a pizza shop with a twist. Among its offerings is “lasagna on a bun.” Other goods include a 2-pound whoopie pie, doughnuts, pies and, of course, pizza.

Bibber, who recently moved to the area from Waterville, worked for a while in a sandwich shop owned and operated in Vassalboro by her mother. She enjoyed the work and wanted to try her own hand at the business.

She admitted last week that her mother offered plenty of ideas and help in getting her started.

The emphasis at Fluff’s is on homemade goods, she said, “not `home style.”‘ Even the pizza crust will be made from fresh dough.

Fluff’s is open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday; from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
