AUGUSTA — Nearly 240 students will graduate at the 22nd commencement exercise of the University of Maine at Augusta scheduled at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 12, in the Augusta Civic Center.
First District Rep. Joseph E. Brennan will be commencement speaker. Bennett D. Katz, a trustee of the University of Maine System, will give a welcome on behalf of the UMS board of trustees. Dr. George P. Connick, president of UMA, will give a formal welcome and confer degrees with Richard J. Randall, provost.
Robert MacVane, dean of student and community services, will announce the granting of the Distinguished Student Award to the student who has achieved high academic honors and service to the community.
A reception for graduates will be held immediately after commencement in an outdoor tent next to Jewett Hall.
