The media is fond of referring to the pro-life movement was a “vocal minority.” I would like to suggest that the phrasing of the question to determine whether a person is pro-life or pro-abortion might influence the results of a poll.
Not even a majority of the pro-life movement would answer affirmatively the question, “Do you oppose abortion on all grounds at any time?” But I am convinced that if the question were asked, “Do you oppose permissive abortion-on-demand by anyone for any reason, of any age, with or without the consent of parents for teen-agers, and in most cases for mere reasons of convenience up to the 24th week of pregnancy and often beyond,” the statistics would show the public being against abortion. (The second question accurately reflects what abortion, in fact, has become.) The media is causing us to become an increasingly vocal majority.
