BELFAST — The Northeast Region National Model Railroad Association will hold its annual convention Friday through Sunday, May 18-20, in Belfast. Exhibits of operating model railroads and other activities will be open to the public from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at Crosby Junior High School.

In conjunction with this, and to celebrate Canada’s Victoria Day, the Belfast Downtown Merchants Association is planning an afternoon of sidewalk sales and other special promotions as well as a crafts fair from noon to 4 p.m. on Church Street.

This will include entertainment, face painting and a tour of the Belfast Opera House. Belfast art galleries will be open with various shows in progress. The Belfast and Moosehead Railroad also will participate in the weekend activities.

The stores at Reny’s Plaza will exhibit a special children’s art display and will offer special sales and promotions.
