SAUGERTIER, N.Y. – Vince Newsome, with relief help in the ninth, pitched a five-hitter to lead Wilmington College of New Castle, Del., to a 2-0 victory over St. Joseph’s College of Standish in the second round of the NAIA East Regional here Friday.

The loss eliminated St. Joseph’s from the tournament. The Monks finished the season with a 24-19 record.

For 28-18 Wilmington, Mike Donovan and Chuck Stapleford each hit a double and a single.

For the Monks, Juan Bustamante had a double.
