PITTSFIELD — Headmaster Douglas Cummings has announced the honor part recipients for the graduating class of 1990 at Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield.

Valedictorian is Kathryn Warrington, daughter of Robert and Debora Warrington of Pittsfield.

Warrington has committed herself to academic coursework, while being involved in athletic activities and volunteer work in the community.

She was the recipient of the Excelsior Honor Award at the completion of her junior year at Mount St. Charles Academy. Kathryn plans to attend Colby College in the fall.

Saluatorian is Susan Ann Petela, daughter of Joseph and Gail Petela of Pittsfield.

Petela has been enrolled in a challenging academic program, and has excelled in softball, soccer and basketball during her four-year tenure at MCI. She also has been an active member of the Student Council, in prize speaking, in the Manson Essay Contest and in the National Honor Society.

She received the University of Maine Achievement Award during her junior year and is the MCI senior class vice president. Petela was selected as the Principals Award recipient at MCI in 1990.

She plans to attend St. Anselm College in the fall.

First Honor Essayist is Jamie DeSisto, daughter of Michael and Nancy DeSisto of Burnham.

DeSisto has been in many extra-curricular activities during her four years at MCI.

She also plans to attend St. Anselm in the fall.

Second Honor Essayist is Shane Wright, son of Gregory and Gail Wright of Pittsfield. Wright, in addition to his academic excellence, has been actively involved in athletics, the National Honor Society, and prize speaking.

Wright plans to attend Bates College in the fall.

Third Honor Essayist is Susan Humphrey, daughter of Floyd and Trudy Humphrey of Pittsfield. Humphrey has been actively involved in Latin club, Masardis, science club and yearbook during her four years at MCI. She received the department of biology award as a sophomore and the department of chemistry award as a junior.

She plans to attend Gordon College in the fall.

The Fourth Honor Essayist is Derrick Morin, son of Larry and Nancy Morin of Pittsfield. Morin excelled in his academic and athletic programs, and the science club. He also was an active member of the mathematics team, receiving the mathematics award as a sophomore and junior and the computer science award as a sophomore.

Morin plans to attend the University of Maine as an engineering major.
