HOULTON — A 9-year-old Houlton boy has been referred to state juvenile-intake authorities for allegedly filing two false public reports in connection with incidents in the Hodgdon area Wednesday night and Thursday morning.
At about 11:30 p.m. Wednesday, the boy telephoned Houlton Regional Hospital and reported a multiple-car accident in the Deering Lake area with people trapped and a car burning.
At 12:55 a.m. Thursday, a second report was received by the Houlton Fire Department that the Hodgdon Mobil Station was on fire.
A dispatcher with the Maine State Police at Houlton said the juvenile was identified after a trace was made to the telephone from which he called.
According to Robert MacMahon of the state Fire Marshal’s Office, the case will be turned over to juvenile-intake authorities to determine what action will be taken against the boy.
