COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – University of Maine senior center Rachel Bouchard is one of 15 finalists for the 1990 U.S. Select Team that will be touring Czechoslovakia and Italy this summer.
Bouchard, who has been here trying out for a spot on one of the three national teams since Friday, was picked as a finalist for the select team, but must survive one more cut. The final cut, which will get the team down to 12 players, will be made on June 6.
Bouchard, a 6-foot-1 center from Hall-Dale High School in Farmingdale, was one of 68 invitees and 300 other players to try out for one of the three teams.
Joining Bouchard as finalists are: Ellen Bayer of Texas, Alice Bolton and Mae Ola Bolton of Auburn, Michelle Edwards and Franthea Price of Iowa, LaJuana Hardmon of Georgia, Pauline Jordan of UNLV, Judy Mosley of Hawaii, Kim Perrot of Southwestern Louisiana, Susan Robinson of Penn State, Wendy Scholtens of Vanderbilt, Rehema Stephens of UCLA, Andrea Stinson of North Carolina State, and Regina Street of Memphis State.
