AUGUSTA — Legislative leaders Monday approved 3 percent raises that had been delayed earlier this spring for four of Maine’s top state officials.
Pay increases for the state treasurer, secretary of state, attorney general and auditor that were scheduled to take effect in April were delayed by Legislative Council until it was clear whether other state officials would also be getting increases.
The uncertainty arose as state departmental budgets were being revised in response to revenues that had fallen below anticipated levels.
In the meantime, Cabinet officers and other officials have received 3 percent hikes. Legislative Council decided to approve matching increases for the four Constitutional officers.
The attorney general’s new annual pay is $77,302; the secretary of state will receive $48,182; the treasurer will receive $61,165; and the auditor’s pay goes up to $59,515.
