MADISON — A Massachusetts man drowned while swimming with friends near a boat landing in the Kennebec River, a game warden said Sunday.
Victor Lora, 25, of Peabody, Mass., dove into the water around 6:30 p.m. Saturday and never surfaced, Warden James Ross said.
Lora’s four companions, also from Massachusetts, searched the water for a half hour without success before calling for help. A diver from the fire department found Lora’s body in 10 feet of water about 40 yards downstream from where he had dived in.
