CHERRYFIELD — A schedule of events for the town’s Independence Day celebration, June 29-July 1, has been announced, as follows:
Friday, June 29:
6-9 a.m., breakfast at the nights of Pythias Hall, Main Street.
6 p.m., bed races on Main Street; contestants must register by June 27.
7 p.m., beano at the American Legion Hall.
8:30 p.m., dance at the tennis courts; music by Ambush.
Saturday, June 30:
6-9 a.m., breakfast at the First Congregational Church.
7 a.m., flag-raising ceremony on the lawn at the town hall.
8 a.m., Salmon Run footrace, starting and ending at the First Baptist Church on Main Street.
8:30 a.m.-2 p.m., flea market at the Knights of Pythias Hall and along lower Main Street.
all day, historical exhibits at the Narraguagus Historical Society Museum on Main Street.
10:30 a.m.-noon, Concert by members and visitors of the Faith Bible Church.
10:30 a.m.-noon, car show in the parking lot of the Union Trust Co.
1 p.m., Little League all-star baseball game at the elementary school.
1:30 p.m., children’s games on the town hall lawn.
2:30 p.m., pie-eating contest in the town hall parking lot.
3 p.m., presentation of awards on the town hall lawn.
7:30 p.m., Maine Street ’90 showcase at elementary school.
9 p.m., fireworks display near elementary school.
Sunday, July 1:
noon, softball tournament at the elementary school.
7 p.m., “Anything that Floats” river rally; register by 6:30 p.m. at the Masonic Hall; enter floating devices at the public boat landing on the Narraguagus River.
