Husson College of Bangor has announced that JOHN R. BENOIT has joined the school as director of its Continuing Educa-tion Division. Before moving to Husson, Benoit worked 24 years for the University of Maine System. He most recently served as director of conferences and institutes at the university.

TRUDY D. TREMBLAY, a certified public accountant, has opened her own business at 185 Harlow St. in Bangor. She has more than 11 years of experience in public accounting. Tremblay previously was associated with the accounting firm of Berry, Dunn, McNeil and Parker.

JOSEPH R. MORAN has been elected vice president for quality assurance and planning at Central Maine Power Co. He will be responsible for administering CMP’s new corporate improvement effort. Moran also will be responsible for coordinating strategic planning efforts for the state’s largest electric utility. Since 1984, Moran has served as CMP’s vice president for division operations.

PHILIP C. HASTINGS has been named director of corporate planning at Central Maine Power Co. He has been director of customer services for CMP’s northern division since 1986. Hastings earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in electrical engineering at Northeastern University in Boston. He joined CMP in 1971.

The J.C. Milliken Agency has appointed GENE W. HOLLIS as assistant general manager for its branch office in Ellsworth. In his new position, Hollis will assist with training, operations and customer service. He is a 1973 graduate of Gordon College in Wenham, Mass., and holds the designation of accredited advisor from the Insurance Institute of America.no picture

J.B. Wright & Co. has announced the appointment of HOWARD WRIGHT as manager of its insurance company in Northeast Harbor. Wright earned a master’s degree at the University of Illinois, and formerly worked as a teacher and coach in Champaign, Ill. Since then, he has been associated with several insurance companies.

International Paper Co. has promoted DAVID A. BAILEY to mill manager at its Androscoggin Mill in Jay. He will be responsible for providing management direction and guidance to the mill’s manufacturing and maintenance organizations and will be responsible for safety and efficiency at the mill. ANDREW DUMOND has been chosen by Portland Glass to manage its store in Calais. A native of Corinth, Dumond joined the company in 1986 after serving in the Marine Corps.

ROBERT B. BASSETT of Bangor has been elected a senior vice president at Fleet Bank of Maine with responsibility for all commercial lending in Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, Waldo and Aroostook counties. Bassett has been with the bank for 13 years and was most recently in charge of commercial lending in the Bangor region. He earned a master’s degree in business at Husson College.

ALAN H. PANGBURN has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing at the Presque Isle Food Distribution Division of Wetterau Inc. Pangburn joined the Portland division of Wetterau in 1972 and transferred to Presque Isle five years later.

DIANE W. ANDREWS has been named director of sales for the Samoset Resort. Andrews previously was corporate sales manager for the Rockport resort and conference center. She is a member of the Maine Innkeepers Association, the New England Chap-ter of Meeting Planners International and the New England Society of Association Executives.

The Samoset Resort has appointed GEORGE DRISCOLL director of marketing. Driscoll previously was employed at Maine Event Meeting Planning. He has more than 28 years of hospitality and marketing exper-ience and was recently elected as a director of the New England Chapter of Meeting Planners International.

DENISE MARIE VIOLETTE has been named to coordinate advertising accounts for WSJR and WLVC radio in the greater Edmundston, New Brunswick, area. Violette is a graduate of Madawaska High School.

RUTH SMEAD has joined the Ellsworth office of the J.C. Milliken Agency as receptionist and personal insurance lines assistant. Prior to joining Milliken, Smead worked for the Winter Harbor Agency in South Gouldsboro as an executive secretary.

Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. has appointed HENRY J. KLOCKSON as resident representative in the personal sales department of its Bangor office. Klockson, who attended Northeastern University, joined the insurance company in 1961.
