Bradley
The Summer Recreation Program will be held on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays through Aug. 2.
The Bradley School Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Viola Rand School. The committee will consider proposals for building improvement projects.
Carmel
The Comprehensive Planning Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the town Office.

Summer story time has begun at Simpson Memorial Library. There is a session for children 2-4 years old and another for children 5-7 years old at 3:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 29.

Clifton
The Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at the town hall.

Dedham
A baked-bean supper will be held Saturday, July 21, at the Dedham Congregational Church, Route 46, Dedham Village. Seatings will be at 5 and 5:45 p.m. The menu will be baked beans, potato salad, coleslaw, brown bread, rolls, assorted pies and coffee. The cost is $4 for adults and $2.50 for children.
Dixmont
The Dixmont United Methodist Church will hold a baked bean and casserole dinner from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, July 21, at the Gold Crest Snowmobile Club. Admission is $4 for adults, $2.50 for children. Children under the age of 5 will be admitted free.

Glenburn
The new Glenburn tax rate for real estate and personal property taxes is 13.3 mills for fiscal year 1990-91.
New dump stickers are available at the town office for a charge of $2. These new orange stickers will allow residents to use the dump for one year. No one will be allowed to use the dump at the July 28-29 opening without a new sticker.

The summer reading program at the Glenburn Library has begun. Registration entitles each child to a free bookmark, sticker and book log for recording titles of books read. Children not yet old enough to read receive credit for reading a book by having someone read to them. Participants will earn a certificate at the end of the program as well as a prize based on the number of books read — buttons, squeeze bottles and T-shirts. New members are welcome anytime during the summer, according to librarian Valerie Rich. The program is free to all preschoolers and pupils through the eighth grade.
The library is open from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through Aug. 9. Volunteers are still needed.
Hampden
The Planning Board, the Recreation Committee, the Conservation Committee and the Comprehensive Planning Committee all have vacancies. Applications are available at the town office.
Any group wanting to plan an outing at the Papermill Recreation Area may obtain a key from the town office or from Kathy Yawn.
The Hampden Historical Society will meet at 7:30 p.m. Monday, July 23, at the Kinsley House on Main Road. Dorrice Wetzler will present an “Armchair Tour of Historic Houses in Hampden.” Using maps, pictures and anecdotes, she will cover the area from the Kinsley House to the shopping center. Open up your storage room of memories, and come and share with others to learn, to be entertained, and to entertain. A special invitation is given to residents of this area, both past and present. Joanne Ricker leads the Refreshment Committee.
The town of Hampden has expanded its recycling program to accept high-grade office paper, corrugated cardboard and tin cans. These items will be accepted at the Solid Waste Transfer Station on Canaan Road.
The Summer Recreation Program is offering several activities for different age groups, including arts and crafts, baseball, basketball, board games, floor hockey, gymnastics and other activities. Hermon
The Planning Board will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Hermon High School. The proposed agenda will include public hearings on: a land subdivision called Hermon Highlands, proposed by Hilltop Realties Trust; a preliminary plan for revision of Hermon Village Estates, proposed by Morgan Realty Trust; a preliminary plan review of the land subdivision Terre Haute, proposed by Dionne Enterprises; and a sketch plan for a land subdivision of property off Creamery Road, proposed by Phillip Pollard.
The Planning Board is seeking applicants to fill two vacancies. One position is a regular, five-year membership. The other is a one-year alternate position. Residents interested in applying for these positions should contact Kathryn Ruth at the town office by Aug. 1.

This Saturday, July 21, the town of Hermon is having its annual Old-Fashioned Fun Day. Bring your family to watch the parade, help the kids decorate a bike for the parade, pick up a pie at one of the food booths, dunk your favorite town celebrity at the dunk tank, try your luck at beano, participate in the cribbage tournament, watch your child compete in the sack races or the frog-jumping contest (bring your own frog or use one of ours), play softball with your child, compete in the horseshoe or volleyball tournaments, or say hello to your friends and neighbors. Holden

Hudson
The Hudson Planning Board will hold a public hearing at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, at the town hall to discuss land subdivision regulations.
Kenduskeag
On Saturday, July 21, Kenduskeag’s recycling program will start taking tin cans. The cans must be rinsed, both ends cut out, and the cans flattened. Labels may be left on. This is in addition to the newspapers and glass. Let’s all join the recycling band wagon.
A public baked-bean supper will be held from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 28, at the Kenduskeag Union Church.
The Recreation Department has announced additional nights for co-ed ball. Games for those 25 and over will be played from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturdays, for $2 a person. Orrington
The nine members of the Orrington Track Club who participated in the Hersey Track Meet in Bangor last week came home with a total of 14 ribbons. The club had one first-place winner, Shane Coombs, who won the 50-meter dash for boys ages 9-10.
“Summertime Stories” at the Orrington Public Library at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, will feature tongue-twisters. Children entering kindergarten through grade three are invited to attend. No registration is necessary.
Winterport
