BLUE HILL — The Eldercare program of the Blue Hill Memorial Hospital will sponsor a lecture by Dr. Robert Baroody on diabetes beginning at 11 a..m. Wednesday, July 25, at the First Congregational Church.

“I think people are very fearful of seeking medical attention if they suspect they have diabetes,” said Baroody. “They may be worried that they will have to take insulin. Yet, if they knew there are two kinds of diabetes, one requiring the use of insulin, and another more common type, that can be effectively controled through weight loss and diet, perhaps they would seek the help they need.”

Dr. Baroody will explain the steps that are taken to diagnose diabetes and discuss how some of the medications, other than insulin, are used to control diabetes.

Free transportation to the lecture can be arranged for senior citizens by calling 1-800-339-WHCA two days in advance.
