Bangor cardiologist elected president of Maine heart association

AUGUSTA — Dr. Robert P. Allen was elected president of the American Heart Association, Maine Affiliate Inc., at its 41st annual meeting June 20.

Allen is a cardiologist at Northeast Cardiology Associates in Bangor. He succeeds Dr. John C. Love, a Portland physician honored at the meeting for his dedicated service in the office.

The AHA is a volunteer organization of health professionals, scientists and educators.

Other officers elected were D. Joshua Cutler of Portland, president-elect; Denise R. Taaffe, C.P.A., of Portland, treasurer; Pam Perkins, R.D., of Portland, secretary. Board members elected were M. Ann Marden of Waterville, Joseph B. Bergwall of Portland, Delores McLaughlin of Augusta, Charles S. Maroon of Waterville, Pam Perkins of Portland, Willard Ruliffson of Houlton and Nathaniel Bond of Bangor.
