BBrewer Convalescent

We are offering a certified nurse’s assistant course through

AAugust. Fourteen students are enrolled. The instructor is Theresa

DDavis, R.N., of Bangor.

New volunteers are: Beth Riedal of Bangor, Tena Lucas of Brewer,

JJessica Getchell of Brewer, and John and Mary Hunter of Winterport.

At our most recent birthday party, we recognized 10 residents

wwith July birthdays.

We held beach day last week. Ron Andrews, food service

ssupervisor, put on a splendid picnic buffet.

The Northern Caledonia Pipe Band was featured last Wednesday

eevening.

Orono

SSenior Citizens

Twenty-nine members of the Orono Senior Citizens Club traveled to

WWicasset on July 19 to visit the Maine Yankee plant. Hostess for

tthe event was Irene Dupuis, vice president.

Welcomed back with applause was Thelma Scott, president, who

hhas been recuperating from an operation. She also received birthday

ggreetings.

A social day was enjoyed and the group dined at the Weathervane

RRestaurant in Belfast. On the way home, members ate homemade ice

ccream.

Phillips-Strickland

On July 10, residents, staff and volunteers were guests at a

sstrawberry festival at the home of Carlene Hillman in Levant.

FFeatured were fresh green peas from her garden and potato salad,

ffollowed by strawberry shortcake piled high with berries fresh from

tthe patch.

The Cole Transportation Museum was a special outing for a group

oof residents July 12. A dental cart carrying a dentist chair

bbelonging to Dr. Mansfield of Jonesport reminded one resident of

wwhen she was a child and Dr. Mansfield had removed one of her teeth

ffor 50 cents.

Laurie Moffatt, Sandy Noyes, Carrie Cyr and Brenda Brawn are new

tto the dietary department.

Westgate Manor

This week, we acknowledge our furry friends, the therapy dogs.

TThere is nothing like having a lovable dog to hug, bringing back

ffond memories of a favorite pet. We have had a wonderful response

ffrom our residents, who appreciate these visits by Jim White and

tthe therapy dogs.
