A Hamilton, Ohio, man was arrested by Brewer police Thursday on a warrant from Cincinnati police. Roger Rosenbaum, 33, was arrested shortly before 7 p.m. at Stacey’s Brewer Motel by Sgt. Lloyd Blanchard and Patrolman David Quimby and taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Blanchard said information was sketchy but that he was informed Rosenbaum was wanted on theft charges alleging that he failed to return $36,000 to a company where he works. According to Blanchard, apparently Rosenbaum did not return the money he had collected for distributing telephone book covers.

Brewer police were notified of the warrant by teletype. Blanchard said Cincinnati police knew where to find Rosenbaum as he had contacted his office Thursday indicating where he would be spending the night.

Extradition procedings would begin Friday morning, Blanchard said.

Steven Knights, 24, of Portland was arrested by Bangor police at 2:30 a.m. Thursday and charged with being a habitual offender, illegal attachment of a license plate, and altering an inspection sticker. Knights was taken to Penobscot County Jail and scheduled to appear in 3rd District Court on Sept. 10.

Pammy Bigham, 24, of Levant was arrested by Brewer police around 1 a.m. Thursday and charged with operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of intoxicating liquor.

David R. Barton, 22, of 179 Indiana Ave., turned himself in to Bangor police around 9 p.m. Wednesday. Checking with the Department of Motor Vehicles, the police confirmed that Barton was wanted in Portland. Barton was arrested and taken to Penobscot County Jail.

Archie A. Ruest, 18, of Madawaska, was arrested by Bangor police at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday on a warrant from the Portland Police Department. Ruest entered the Bangor police station to file a complaint but by the time he left, police had discovered that there was an arrest warrant for Ruest. Patrolman Larry Weber found Ruest on Ohio Street near Finson Road and took him to Penobscot County Jail.

A resident of Finson Road reported she had left her wallet in her car as she went to bring her children into her house. When she returned to the car 20 minutes later, she found that a front door was open and that her wallet was gone. The wallet contained $425 in cash.

A Lubec woman reported that sometime during the last two years, a blue oriental rug, valued at $300, was taken from the cellar of an Essex Street home. She told police Thursday that the rug was taken sometime between December 1, 1988 and July 29, 1990.

A resident of De Rusha Lane in Brewer reported that she put her wallet down to make a phone call at the Doug’s Shop n’ Save store at the Bangor Airport Mall and when she went to pick it up it was gone. The wallet contained $55 in cash, a driver’s license, a fishing license, and a check-cashing card.

A man whose body was removed Wednesday night from his Maple Street apartment died of natural causes more than a week ago, according to Bangor police.

James Corbett, 36, had been dead for about 10 days before neighbors bothered by the stench called police to investigate, according to Detective Sgt. Timothy Reid.

Corbett lived alone in the apartment at 56 Maple St., said Reid, in a neighborhood not far from the State Street building where police last week investigated another unattended death, that of an elderly woman.

An ambulance was called to the Bangor State Fair about 9:15 p.m. Thursday after a carnival worker complained of abdominal pain.

The worker, Wayne Davenport, age unknown, of Hermon, was taken to Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was still being evaluated in the emergency room as of 10:30 p.m. and his condition was not known.

Davenport was tending the slide ride when he was overcome. He was replaced with another employee and the ride remained open.

A Hermon man was arrested on an outstanding warrant Thursday night by a police officer working a detail at the Bangor State Fair.

Vaughn Stanley Stevenson, 18, was wanted on a burglary warrant from Brewer, according to police. An officer at the fair knew Stevenson. Detective Orval Moor made the arrest.
