A fire Thursday morning destroyed the second story of a house on Chambers Court, Brewer.

The house is owned by Colin Thibodeau. Debbie Moreland and her two children lived there as well. Brewer fire Capt. Larry Willis said no one was home at the time and no one was injured in fighting the fire.

In addition to the destruction on the second floor and the loss of much of the contents, the first floor of the old Cape house suffered substantial water damage, Willis said.

The fire appeared to have started upstairs with some wiring in the wall between two bedrooms.

The alarm was called at 8:18 a.m. from someone who works in the offices of Civil Engineering Services on South Main Street.

“When we got here fire was showing around the eaves,” Willis said. Firefighters had the fire under control within 45 minutes and left the scene within two hours.
