THOMASTON — The Children’s Room of the Thomaston Public Library has announced plans for a special program to mark the end of the summer reading program called “Reading Is Magic.”

The program will take place at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 11, in the children’s room and will be for all children and parents involved in the reading program and for the Story Time children. The program, titled “Focus on Endangered Species in Maine,” will be presented by Annie Merrill of the Chewonki Foundation.

This program will focus on what can be done about endangered and threatened wildlife. Information is covered with slides and displays. It draws participants to feel the concern for Maine’s endangered species and generates many ways for both children and adults to get involved.

This activity is free and open to all Knox County residents. It will conclude with the awarding of certificates and prizes for the successful completion of the summer reading program. For further information, contact Jane Holmsen, children’s librarian.
