The Women’s Center at Eastern Maine Medical Center will offer a comprehensive, daylong program on premenstrual syndrome on Monday, Aug. 27. The center offers a professional program led by Lorainecq Wescott, R.N.
Wescott, who received PMS training at St. Louis, Mo., will be joined by Valerie Hart-Smith, M.S., R.N., C.S., who is a psychotherapist and associate professor of nursing at the University of Maine, and a nutritionist, Heather Leclerc, M.S., R.D.
The program includes a private pre-assessment appointment with Wescott and a program with the PMS team teaching clients how to become partners in their own health care. Follow-up appointments are set at one-, three- and 12-month periods and there will be a support group for program graduates.
Symptoms of PMS include abdominal bloating, anxiety, backache, forgetfulness, hostility, depression, fatigue, food cravings, mental confusion, modd swings, tension, or any of 150 cyclical symptoms.
Fee for the Aug. 27 program is $75. Fees for other appointments are $50. Call the center at 945-8111 for reservations or more information.
