Construction of a sewer line running from Broadway Park to the intersection of Broadway and French Street began Monday. Bangor police said construction was expected to continue through November and that traffic would be reduced to two very narrow lanes. Motorists can expect traffic congestion and delays in travel, according to Sgt. Don Winslow.

For the first two weeks of construction, traffic on Broadway will be detoured around the park to Pine Street. Pine and South Park streets will be posted no-parking to help alleviate congestion.

Police urged motorists to use alternate routes. In planning alternate routes motorists should remember that Kenduskeag Avenue is still under construction and is not open for through traffic.
